This story follows the lives of several people who live in a cul-de-sac called 4 Riverside Close.
The place is full of secrets. Many of these secrets are logged by an inquisitive old lady, Olive, who watches everyone’s comings and goings. (By the way, Olive turns out to be one of my favourite characters).
A number of women who live at Riverside are bored. They are bored with their lives in general and bored with their sex lives.
A new friendship online site, Join Me, starts advertising at Riverside. Join Me promises visits to museums and zoos but it seems a lot of the women are more interested in finding sex. Jason and Caroline, who also live at Riverside, run Join Me, but do they have a secret agenda? And if so, what is it?
At the start of the book, we know a murder has been committed but we don’t know who has been killed until the end. We also don’t know who the killer is. I had a lot of fun trying to work these two out.
There are women in the book who would kill to protect their secrets and their marriage, there is another woman who is likely going to be killed unless she leaves her abusive husband…
Entertaining and clever, this book will keep you guessing until the end.
Jo and Ash have the perfect relationship. Or so it seems, until Ash is accused of crimes against Jo’s young daughter, Millie. Then Millie goes missing. This story is about the search for Millie.
The mother, Jo, is our main character and detectives Tom Douglas and Becky are investigating the case. It soon becomes clear neither Jo's husband nor her best friend are telling the truth. There are plenty of potential suspects - could Ash’s adult brother and sister be involved? And then there’s Jo’s ex who is thrown into the mix because he has been angrily harassing Jo to gain access to Millie...
I enjoyed following the hunt for Millie and Jo is a great character, very believable and very emotional.
Five years ago, Izzy’s husband and newborn daughter went missing. When Izzy receives a note similar to the one posted to her when she lost her baby, Izzy relives her nightmare. And with it comes hope - is her daughter still out there? Are they still alive?
We follow a male and a female detective as they search through the history of the case and try to come up with answers.
I found the story a tad contrived but it's what most people would call a 'page turner' because terrible things keep happening and poor Izzy is put through the grinder.
I liked Detective Darin and she'll definitely be better without her boss. If you're looking for an easy read which you can pick up and put down, this would tick the box. 3.5 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book. This is my honest review.
A wonderful read and highly recommended.
Alice, Ursula and Gareth are three ordinary people with ordinary lives.
They don't know each other but their paths are soon going to cross. It will be up to them to decide the fate of a fourth person who has plotted to end someone's life. What will they decide and how will each of them act?
It's impossible to say much more without giving away the story.
I thought this was a fantastic plot and I loved the characters and their life stories.
Very well written, unpredictable and by far the best book I've read in a long time.
