Back in May, I decided to investigate reader's favourite books either written by a person of colour, or with a person of colour as a main character. Why, you ask yourself? Well, I knew that my own book, Good Girl Bad Girl, was amongst a very few in the suspense/thriller genre with a non- white main character and I wanted to find out if there were more. So, I asked on www.Goodreads.com. On Goodreads, I'm a member of Our Shared Shelf, which is an active Book Club with almost 150 000 members and I asked them the question. (If you're a member of Goodreads, you can read the full discussion thread here - Diversity-reading-list) Actually, I found hardly any other books in the suspense/thriller genre with main characters who are black or a person of colour but readers recommended books from many genres. I thought I'd share some of them here for those of you who are interested. The Color Purple, Alice Walker The Bluest Eye, Toni Morrison Dawn, Octovia E.
